READING COUNTS GUIDELINES FOR 2nd QUARTER
Four Reading Counts book tests passed as follows (one by each date): Monday – 2/6, 2/20, 3/5, 3/19
Reading homework for each week will follow the same pattern. The spelling word sort and word meaning pages will be due each Wednesday. The reading vocabulary worksheet will be due each Thursday. On Friday students will have a spelling test and reading quiz. Friday I’ll be introducing the spelling words for the following week.
Week of January 30
Reading: This week we will begin the novel Tuck Everlasting. Students will be listening and filling out a packet over the next two weeks.
Social Studies: We are beginning a unit on the American Revolutionary War.
Writing: The students will continue to work on essays.
Grammar: Subject Pronouns and Object Pronouns. No practice book worksheets this week. Students will be given worksheets from another source. Monday: p. 77, Wednesday p. 123, Thursday, p. 78.
Math: Monday: Correcting 5B review sheet for math test on Tuesday. Wednesday: New math packets for unit 6 – volume. pp. 231-232 assigned. Thurs.: pp. 235-236 assigned (length, area, & volume); Friday: (estimating to solve problems) Quick Quiz and p. 592 assigned.
Science: We hope to have our first draft of the human body research paper completed by Friday. The students will be working in the computer lab all week.

Today was the staff vs. 8th grade voyallyball and TEACHERS WON!!!!! It was very fun and mrs.Bates and mr.Visser have killer strikes!!!
Sounds like fun! Sorry we didn’t see this sooner. Of course the teachers won…they are bigger than you. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

Hmm, no date on message. Guess he will have to make up his work tomorrow. It isn’t in the classroom and I have him at the end of the day so he must have taken it from here and put it straight into his locker when getting ready to go home. Thanks for the heads up!
