READING COUNTS GUIDELINES FOR 4th QUARTER

Four Reading Counts book tests passed as follows (one by each date):  Monday – 4/16, 4/30, 5/14, 5/29

Reading homework for each week will follow the same pattern. The spelling word sort and word meaning pages will be due each Wednesday. The reading vocabulary worksheet will be due each Thursday. On Friday students will have a spelling test and reading quiz.  Friday I’ll be introducing the spelling words for the following week.

Week of May 21: Plans are subject to change due to various schedule changes we experience during this time of the year with assemblies, assessments, etc.

Reading:  For the rest of the year we will be reading and discussing mystery books.

Writing:  We are working on revising and typing the realistic fiction stories.

Social Studies:  Chapter 14 quiz on Friday!

Week of 5/14/12:  Plans are subject to change due to various schedule changes we experience during this time of the year with assemblies, assessments, etc.

Reading:  This week we are beginning a mystery novel.  Students will be reading and filling in worksheets to inspire thinking about what is being read.

Writing: Students are working on finishing the realistic fiction stories they are writing.

Grammar:  Adverbs including good/well.  P. 161, 162, 163, and 165 on Monday through Thursday.

Math:  Fractions continue: Monday p. 245 (Homework sheet); Tuesday p. 401; Wednesday p. 402; Thursday p. 403; Friday QQ3 and Unit 9 review! (Test about next Tuesday!)

Science:  We will finish up our roller coasters this week and on Tuesday the students will receive a Force and Motion Unit Study sheet for a test on Friday.  We will then spend two weeks on studying inventions, inventors, and possibly doing our own inventions!

Social Studies:  We are learning about the U.S. Constitution.  Chapter 14 in the text book.

 

Week of 5/7/12:  Greenfield Village trip is Thursday the 10th.  Be at school by 6:15 a.m.!  Kids have been given all the details you need.

Reading: This week we will have the unit 5 test on Wed. We are finished with spelling for the year!

Writing: Continue work of realistic fiction story.

Social Studies: Begin chapter 14;  the constitution.

Math: Division of Fractions- Monday: pp. 391/392; Tuesday: Hmwk. p. 239; Wednesday: New packet of Word Problems with mixed operations pp. 397-398; Friday: Review.

Grammar: Working with comparing using “good/bad” – Pract. p. 153, 154, 157 on Monday – Wednesday.

Science:  We will be constructing roller coasters in order to apply all we’ve learned about force and motion.  This will take a few days.  Students will receive a study sheet for a Unit Test for the following week!

    I don’t know if you’ve heard great things about me or Mrs. Dufendach, but you’ll have both of us teaching you. We are very excited to meet you, too.   5. Today was the staff vs. 8th grade voyallyball and TEACHERS WON!!!!! It was very fun and mrs.Bates and mr.Visser have killer strikes!!! :)

  10. Hmm, no date on message. Guess he will have to make up his work tomorrow. It isn’t in the classroom and I have him at the end of the day so he must have taken it from here and put it straight into his locker when getting ready to go home. Thanks for the heads up!

  16. You are welcome to make your own box or bag and bring it in. We would prefer it not to be a competition, though. We can enjoy your craft without a contest!
