6th Math Curriculum
In 6th grade students complete their general math study. Students get a small introduction to algebra, but for the most part we focus on arithmetic with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. Students are able to use a calculator to check their work, but do not use them on tests or quizzes. In 6th grade we use Addison Wesley, which covers the following material:
Chapter 1 – Statistics & Real World Use of Whole Numbers
Chapter 2 – Connecting Arithmetic to Algebra
Chapter 3 – Decimals
Chapter 4 – Measurement
Chapter 5 – Patterns & Number Theory
Chapter 6 – Adding & Subtracting Fractions
Chapter 7 – Multiplying & Dividing Fractions
Chapter 8 – The Geometry of Polygons
Chapter 9 – Integers & the Coordinate Plane
Chapter 10 – Ratio, Proportion, and Percent
Chapter 11 – Probability
