7th Grade Math

(04/22)  We are in the midst of a unit called Stretching and Shrinking.  Ask a 7th grader about the Wump family!  We are learning about what makes figures mathematically similar; we will spend the next few weeks focusing on scale factors and various ways we use them in the world around us.

(03/02) We finished our unit on other mathematical models.  We have now entered the world of geometry, particularly looking at area and perimeter.  We just looked at parallelograms and have now moved on to triangles.  Late next week we will have a quiz on that, then finish up the book with circles.

(01/05) We have begun our next unit, Thinking With Mathematical Models.  We are beginning with a brief reveiw of linear models, after which we will focus on several types of non-linear relationships and models.

(11/30) 7th grade is close to finishing this algebra unit, so they can expect a final quiz on Investigations 4 and 5 sometime next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday.

(11/04) We are part way through our second algebra unit, Moving Straight Ahead.  We are studying the relationships between graphs, tables, and equations more in depth.  After a quiz early next week, we will focus specifically on equations, learning how to solve them, what the slope and y-intercept are, and so on.

(09/21) We have a quiz tomorrow (09/22)!

(09/01) 7th grade is jumping right into the world of algebra with Variables and Patterns.  In this book they will learn the basics of algebra including graphs, tables, and equations and how the three are interrelated.
