Just to give you a heads up… on December 2nd and 3rd the middle schoolers will be leaving school during the day to participate in a Spiritual Emphasis retreat.  A flier will be sent home to give some details and explain a little more about what we have in store for the students.

6th Grade Science:  Over the next month we are going to continue our study of energy.  This will lead us to learn about heat and chemical energies and how they transfer and different properties of matter.

6th Grade Social Studies:  We are continuing our general study of geography.  At this point we are learning about why people live where they do and how many people there are in different places around the world.  As we move foward, we will be studying various cultures around the world and the students will be creating a culture brochure from a different country.

7th Grade Science:  Over the next month we are going to continue our study of energy.  Toward the end of the month we will begin learning about heredity and how we inherit different traits.

8th Grade Science:  We have finished our study of electricity and magnetism so it is time to move on to the Human Body.  This is the longest unit of the year.  We are going to be looking at all of the different organ systems in the body and learning about some general health issues.

8th Grade Math:  We are continuing our stduy of areas of squares and triangles.  This is leading us in the direction of the Pythagorean Theorem.  We are also going to be learning about irrational numbers.  Up to this point in their math experiences they have been using rational numbers, but now it’s time to get totally irrational!
