6th Science: We have finished our Planet Rock unit and are now moving on to learn about the Earth’s living organisms and relationships. These two units tie together very well as we began by learning about the planet’s surface, and now we are focusing on it’s living inhabitants. Overall, these are two great units that really highlight how amazing God’s creation is. I love it!
6th Social Studies: Our study of the geography of North America has just about come to an end. At the beginning of the month the students are going to be working in groups to teach the class a lesson about a region of Canada, which will bring this unit to a close. Following that we are going to head south and learn about the Caribbean and Central and South America. This involves some really neat projects and learning about some very interesting cultures.
7th Science: Right now we are learning about sound and light waves. So far we have just focused on the various properties of waves. As we move forward we are going to look more specifically at the properties of sound waves and properties of light waves.
The eighth graders time at ACS is quickly passing by. Only 9 weeks left!
8th Math: Over the coming weeks we are going to be focusing on probability and statistics. So far we have been evaluating what makes different events more or less likely. As we continue we will play various games and look at the probability of different events occurring in each game.
8th Science: Believe it or not, we are still in the midst of our Human Health and Biology unit. Before spring break we had the opportunity to dissect fetal pigs to observe the systems and organs that we have been learning about. Some students had a little difficulty at first, but everyone really enjoyed it. Moving forward, we have a chapter about the Immune system that we will be covering in the next week, and after that we are going to do a short unit on Drugs.
